ERC-20 is a technical standard for fungible tokens on Ethereum, defining a common set of functions (transfer, approve, allowance) that wallets and protocols can interact with predictably. The vast majority of DeFi tokens, stablecoins, and governance tokens are ERC-20 compliant, enabling seamless integration with exchanges, lending protocols, and wallets without custom implementation for each token.
