Hot Wallet
A cryptocurrency wallet connected to the internet, offering convenience at the cost of higher exposure to attacks.
A hot wallet stores private keys on an internet-connected device — a browser extension like MetaMask, a mobile app, or an exchange's internal wallet system. Hot wallets enable fast, convenient transactions but are exposed to phishing, malware, and remote attacks. Best practice is to keep only actively used funds in hot wallets and store the remainder in cold storage.
