Validator
A node that participates in a Proof of Stake consensus by staking collateral to propose and attest to blocks.
Validators are network participants who stake cryptocurrency as collateral and are responsible for proposing new blocks and attesting to their validity. In Ethereum, validators require 32 ETH to run independently; liquid staking protocols like Lido allow pooled staking. Validators earn rewards for honest behavior and face slashing — partial or total loss of stake — for provable offenses like double-signing or prolonged downtime.
