Mempool
The waiting room for unconfirmed transactions before they are included in a block.
The mempool (memory pool) is a node's local set of pending, unconfirmed transactions waiting to be included in the next block. Miners and validators select transactions from the mempool, typically prioritizing those with higher fees. Monitoring the mempool reveals pending large transactions, smart contract interactions, and is the environment where MEV searchers operate — extracting value by front-running or reordering transactions.
